(ALTFREQ PICK) Dieselboy @ U Street Music Hall – Drum ‘n’ bass reigns supreme this Thursday in DC, as living genre legend Dieselboy makes yet another highly-anticipated stop in the nation’s capital. Having attended his last several stints at U Hall, I can say with near absolute certainty that this is a can’t miss high-tempo throwdown. (ALTFREQ PICK) Chiodos & We Came As Romans @ Baltimore Soundstage – My inner high schooler couldn’t stop banging his head when he saw this billing. WCAR were always on the fringe of my musical consciousness back in the day, but Chiodos were forever front and center; Bone Palace Ballet easily lands in my top 25 “albums that shaped me” list. They’ll most likely – hopefully – be playing a healthy mix of old and new tunes, which is fine by me; Devil, released earlier this year, is no BPB, but it’s still incredibly solid. (Tickets / Info)

(ALTFREQ PICK) Robert DeLong @ U Street Music Hall (EARLY SHOW) – In Robert DeLong’s mind, the weirder the better. This electronic musician makes some of the most intricate and unique tunes on the circuit today; to pigenhole them into a single genre – or even several – would be to do DeLong a dreadful disservice. Take a listen to the tune below and you’ll get an idea of what I mean. It’s an early show too, so you can take it in, grab some food and drink on the always-hopping U Street corridor, and be back in time for Dirtybird mainstay J.Phlip later on in the night.
