(ALTFREQ PICK) Amtrac @ Flash – Thank goodness for Steez Promo consistently bringing the heat to keep us warm in these cold winter months. This time it’s the pride of Kentucky (or at least the only DJ/producer I know who hails from Kentucky) Amtrac, a deep-and-disco dude who’s deft combination of styles walks the line between underground and pop with confident ease. (ALTFREQ PICK) DEADcember w/On The Bus @ The 8×10 – The 8×10’s weekly December celebration of the music and culture of The Grateful Dead is coming to an end, but they saved perhaps the best for last. On The Bus is a DC-based band that’s been playing The Dead’s music since the early 2000s, sharing the stage with everyone from Jefferson Starship to John Kadlecik (of fellow Dead-impresarios Dark Star Orchestra). Brooklyn-based funky fellows Turkuaz are in town, and they’ll be laying down bodacious basslines all night long.
