AltFreq Weekly Planner (11/30/14-12/3/14)
–Written by Kevin Madert
It’s nearly impossible to keep track of all the events going on in the area, so we’re here to let you know what’s happening in live music over the next few days. Watch out on Thursdays for the “Weekend Planner” where we’ll cover the most important 72 hours of the week.
Sunday 11/30
DC
(SOLD OUT) Interpol @ 930 Club – (Info)
MSTRKRFT (DJ Set) @ U Street Music Hall – *Free Show* (Info)
(ALTFREQ PICK) Relient K @ Fillmore Silver Spring – Christian rockers and Ohio natives Relient K are out on tour to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their breakthrough fourth studio album MMHMM. Whether you’ve been with the band since the beginning or simply hummed along every time you heard “Be My Escape” on contemporary rock radio in the mid-2000, the nostalgia factor here is high. (Tickets)
Baltimore
George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic @ Rams Head Live – (Tickets / Info)
Cock Sparrer @ Baltimore Soundstage – (Tickets / Info)
Monday 12/1
DC
Death From Above 1979 @ 930 Club – (Tickets / Info)
Tuesday 12/2
DC
(SOLD OUT) Trey Anastasio Band @ 930 Club – (Info)
(SOLD OUT) The 1975 @ Echostage – (Info)
New Build & Museum Of Love @ U Street Music Hall – (Tickets / Info)
(ALTFREQ PICK) Chuck Ragan (Acoustic) @ Gypsy Sally’s – We never miss a chance to see down home American folk music, especially from the former lead singer of seminal punk band Hot Water Music. This special acoustic set should play beautifully in the homey confines of Gypsy Sally’s. *21+ show* (Tickets / Info)
Baltimore
Songs And Stories (An Evening With Art Alexikas Of Everclear) @ Baltimore Soundstage – (Tickets / Info)
(ALTFREQ PICK) Seven, Youngsta & Compa @ The Get Down – Events showcasing real dubstep (and I mean real dubstep) are a rarity these days on this side of the pond. When one comes along – especially when it features a trio of talented, dark, and dastardly UK-based producers – it’s a no questions asked can’t-miss. (Tickets)
Wednesday 12/3
DC
(SOLD OUT) Trey Anastasio Band @ 930 Club – (Info)
Les Sins @ U Street Music Hall – (Tickets / Info)
Hoodie Allen @ Fillmore Silver Spring – (Tickets)
(ALTFREQ PICK) Yung Lean & Sad Boys @ Black Cat – We’re only familiar with this rap collective in passing, but these Swedish teenagers are too interesting – and surprisingly talented – to go unmentioned. Melding a slew of American pop-culture references with that emotive bleakness so popular among alt-rappers these days (see: Frank Ocean, Odd Future, etc.) Lean and his Boys bring a refreshing take on an often derivative genre. (Tickets / Info)
Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble @ Gypsy Sally’s – *21+ show* (Tickets / Info)
Baltimore
Animals As Leaders & Devin Townsend Project @ Rams Head Live – (Tickets / Info)
Slick Rick The Ruler @ Baltimore Soundstage – (Tickets / Info)
