Fresh off his first ever appearance at Coachella, Scott Hansen – aka the photographer/graphic designer ISO50, aka the production mind and driving force behind Tycho – appears to have checked his calendar and found it too empty for his liking. In addition to several already announced festival appearances, Hansen and his backing band will perform in a handful of cities across the southern and eastern United States in June, including a stop at Baltimore’s Rams Head Live on June 19.

Our favorite Boston-area production collective is at it again: Friends With Robots made our week on Tuesday, releasing the fifth installment of their monthly mixtape series. The collection overflows with pepped-up post-future bass music, offering the listener seven tunes well-suited for the euphoric warmth of spring.

Ahead of their performance in the massive Sahara Tent at Coachella on Saturday, experimental alt-rock-meets-electronica duo Ratatat premiered a new track entitled “Cream on Chrome” via Youtube. Since Bob Boilen first began inviting musicians the world over to play stripped-down shows in his cramped NPR office back in 2008 (seriously guys, hasn’t he earned bigger digs?) over 400 acts have taken part in the Tiny Desk Concert series. Boilen – who’s been with NPR since the 1980s and created the online music program All Songs Considered in 2000 – has seen acts ranging from Andrew W.K. to Yo-Yo Ma take their places in the same tight crook of two bookshelves and perform abbreviated, intimate sets for a few dozen of his coworkers.

News: Que Sera Debut New Music Video on Substream Magazine

The New England post hardcore scene has been the stuff of legend for more than a decade now. There are so many bands that came out of that frozen wasteland that helped define the wildly diverse and complex genre. Bands like The Receiving End of Sirens added the refinement while bands like Therefore I Am gave it a gritty, authentically Boston tone. This scene may not be as instantly recognizable as the emo/pop punk scene that came out of New Jersey and Long Island in the early 2000’s, but it holds just as significant place in the history of modern alternative music.
