London’s decade-plus nightlife gem Fabric – the club twice voted best in the world by DJ Magazine – is facing the potential of closing its doors over four drug-related deaths, including two in the last three months. Via The Independent:

“The Metropolitan police has filed papers detailing the “unacceptable number of deaths and near death incidents at the venue.” Police Constable Steven Harrington stated in the papers that “in the last three years, there have been eight incidents of patrons collapsing at the venue having taken illegal substances/drugs,” including MDMA. “Four of these incidents resulted in the near death of the victims and four have resulted, unfortunately, in the death of the victims,” he wrote.

News: Buku Announces Initial Artist Lineup

Posted by on Dec 16, 2014 in Latest, News, Reads | 0 comments

And the lineup announcements roll on; Buku Music + Art Project (taking place March 13 and 14 in New Orleans) dropped their initial artist list today. As expected, it’s a healthy mix of electronica (Bassnectar, Gramatik, Odesza), hip-hop (A$AP Rocky, Run The Jewels, Yung Lean & Sad Boys) and indie galore (Passion Pit, TV On The Radio, Portugal. The Man).

We’ve certainly got a few questions – what exactly does the “live” addendum to Porter Robinson entail? And why would the festival book both him and Passion Pit, when the former has essentially become a non-self-aware clone of the latter? – but we have months to debate and discuss. Be sure to head over to the Buku website for all the latest info – or at least to scope their insane art design.

Here at AltFreq we firmly believe it’s never too early to start planning for festival season. The fine folks in charge of Summer Camp – set to celebrate its 15th iteration May 22-25 in Chillecothe, Illinois – feel much the same; they’ve just released their tier one lineup and tickets are already on sale.

For those familiar with Summer Camp many of the artists will come as no surprise, although five sets of both moe. and Umphrey’s McGee is wonderfully absurd news. Other highlights include Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, John Butler Trio, and Probcause. Check the full list below and head on over to the Summer Camp website for all the latest information.
