You may have heard all the hooplah about the new Dance Gavin Dance album, if you read this blog at all, I’d say it would be pretty difficult to miss it. But in case you aren’t hip, Instant Gratification will be the second full length album from DGD with Tillian Pearson fronting the band. Tillian is far from new to the scene, he had previous played with Rise Records labelmates, Tides of Man. Tides of Man played to a similar crowd, representing the more technical side of the genre, though they were always more polished than Dance Gavin Dance. They were the Envy on the Coast to Dance Gavin Dance’s The Fall of Troy, for all five of you that will understand that analogy.
Read MoreNews: Coheed & Cambria Announce June Tour
In today’s slightly odd but nonetheless satisfying news, Coheed & Cambria have announced a short tour through the end of June with You Blew It!. For those unaware of You Blew It!, you aren’t alone, but you’re definitely missing out. You Blew It! harkens back to the emo and pop punk-ish bands from the early-aughts; bands like Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, you get the idea. So of course, it is an interesting pairing for Coheed & Cambria, who have a more progressive rock path over the last few years. However, these guys would have been right at home with Co&Ca during their early Second Stage Turbine Blade days. Either way, this should be a really interesting tour that you definitely shouldn’t miss.
Of course, that is easier said than done, as we get to the second odd part of this announcement. This isn’t your normal Coheed tour, hitting all the big cities, and possibly double booking cities like DC or New York where they have a particularly big following. No, this tour is hitting spots like Dewey Beach, Delaware, and Toledo, OH. In fact, the Dewey Beach date is the closest we’re going to get to this tour in DC. But leave it to Coheed to always change up the game a little bit.
Check after the jump for tour flyer and dates.

Gramatik – Native Son (Ft. Raekwon & Orlando Napier)
The lead single from Gramatik’s upcoming Epigram EP sees the Slovenian teaming with an emerging talent and an established hip-hop legend to craft a too-smooth instant classic. The juxtaposition of frequent collaborator Orlando Napier’s syrupy tones and rapper Raekwon’s incendiary verses atop seriously sensual riffage amounts to some of Gramatik’s best work. The often humble producer seemed almost as excited as we were about the tune: “I’m sure you can imagine how some random kid from Slovenia must feel, realizing he just made a song with a legend.” (via Facebook)
Read MoreNews: August Burns Red Release First Single Off Upcoming Album
This week has already been a rather busy one for new music, and if it were just about any other band, I’d say a metalcore track would have a hard time keeping up against new music from the likes of Brand New and Pianos Become the Teeth, but this isn’t just any metalcore band. This is August Burns Red. Though they do have quite the act to follow after previous album, Rescue & Restore, which was nothing short of ground breaking.
While this new album is more of an aggressive, straightforward metalcore track, lacking some of the depth and dynamics of Rescue & Restore, it is certainly not without it’s merits. It is, of course, a brutally heavy track, written by one of the top names in the genre, so it certainly isn’t going to disappoint. But I’m hoping the rest of the album fills some of those niches created by their previous effort, and they keep the innovation coming.
Check out the lyric video for “The Wake” after the jump, and let us know what you think.

–Written by Kevin Madert
After Infrasound Music Festival dropped an initial lineup back in February adorned by an eclectic combination of broken-beat acts and dubstep heavyweights, they were presented with a difficult question: how do you go about improving on a lineup already crammed with so much talent? With the second round of artists announced Monday, they answered with confidence: cram in a whole bunch more.

Since we last covered DMV by way of Orlando native Choppy Oppy, he’s been busy. He released a mix, “Swingstep Vol. 1,” full of swing and glitch gems. He secured a spot playing JamCamp Music & Arts Festival, set for June 5-6 in Centerville, VA. And he’s even scheduled a rooftop performance at DC’s Rock & Roll Hotel alongside fellow local DJ Slugworth – the only logical place you should be this Friday, April 17.
Read MoreNews: Brand New Release New Song, “Mene”
Well, it certainly looks like the Brand New news is rolling in lately, isn’t it? In the first official release in six years (their first new music since the release of 2009’s Daisy), Brand New have unexpectedly released “Mene”. The track was originally supposed to be released on Wednesday, with a 30 second preview available on Amazon. However, rather quickly as the day progressed, the band began streaming the album, with a download promised on Wednesday. Then, in a truly Brand New-esq “screw it, whatever” move, they just released the stream and download of the song this morning.
This is, once again, a departure from their old sound. But really, what is Brand New’s old sound? They have done such a brilliant job of reinventing themselves over the years with every single release, and still retaining their fanbase throughout their musical journey. And now, they’re back. No one is quite sure to what extent, but it looks like they’re coming back in full force. Hopefully we’ll have more news shortly, until then, enjoy the new song below.

Fresh off his first ever appearance at Coachella, Scott Hansen – aka the photographer/graphic designer ISO50, aka the production mind and driving force behind Tycho – appears to have checked his calendar and found it too empty for his liking. In addition to several already announced festival appearances, Hansen and his backing band will perform in a handful of cities across the southern and eastern United States in June, including a stop at Baltimore’s Rams Head Live on June 19.
