Dreamscape 2016: Hear Music From Every Act Playing This Year’s Festival

Words and list by Kevin Madert

You can feel it in the air. The sun’s a little warmer, the days a little longer, blizzpocalypses and snowmageddons all but forgotten. Spring has sprung (officially, if you doubt it) and for us in the musicsphere that means something wonderful: Festival season is upon us.

Our year is shaping up to begin with Dreamscape, the longtime Badass Raves brainchild that began as an indoor all-nighter known as Psychedelic Dreamscape before expanding last year to a two-day fest at secluded Camp Ramblewood in Darlington, MD. This year it’s a full-weekend affair, with three days of 11am-5pm music slated for May 5-8.

In the dual interest of channeling our anticipatory excitement and educating anyone who cares to listen, we’ve compiled a playlist to kick off our coverage of the festival. Organized into loose genre categories, it features every artist slated to perform* and is intended to acclimate readers to the lineup; plenty of in-depth writing on all things Dreamscape will follow.

In just over two months more than a hundred thousand people will flock from around the world to a field in the middle of Tennessee, braving broiling temperatures and Billy Joel fans* to spend a weekend at one of the world’s largest and best known music festivals. As you may know, there’s far more to Bonnaroo than just the music. Hell, their website promises “Melt-in-your-mouth eats,” “Outrageous nightly parades,” and even something called “Splash-A-Roo And The Big-Ass Waterslide.”

On April Fool’s Day (we swear it’s not a joke), the festival announced the lineup for perhaps their largest non-music offering: The Comedy Theatre. Television host and Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick, bandleader and oddball extraordinaire Reggie Watts, and guy who seems to only appear on Comedy Central Roasts Jeff Ross top a solid list of stand-up comics appearing at Bonnaroo 2015.

News: Dark Star Jubilee Releases Lineup For Fourth Annual Festival

Posted by on Jan 16, 2015 in Latest, News, Reads | 0 comments

Those in the loop already knew Dark Star Jubilee will bring a few thousand revelers to the dead center of Ohio for a weekend of continuing the Grateful Dead experience. As of today, we now know who we’ll be gathering to see. The fourth annual Jubilee – put on by All Good Presents and the Jubilee’s curators, Dark Star Orchestra – is slated for Memorial Day Weekend (May 22-24), and will feature as always three nights of extended headlining sets from DSO. In addition, attendees will enjoy performances from Railroad Earth, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, The Jeff Austin Band, and Keller & The Keels, among many others.

The festival’s unique setup at Legend Valley – a gently sloping natural amphitheater with quality acoustics and sightlines – allows for a highly intimate atmosphere. With camping included, no overlapping sets, and an array of vending and extracurricular options (from experience, I highly recommend one of the early-morning yoga sessions) DSJ is looking to be the steal of the summer. You can purchase early bird tickets here and keep up on all the latest information on the festival’s official site. See you at the Jubilee!
