Today, a lot of things happened in the world of music. Here are some of them.

1. Lockn Music Festival just announced the set times for its second iteration, slated to take place September 4-7 in Arrington, VA. Rock reigns supreme, with two hour-plus sets from acts like Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Allman Brothers, and Phil Lesh & Friends. Via Lockn’s official site.

2. The lineup for Hard’s Halloween bash Day of the Dead was released earlier today, and it’s scary good. There are plenty of expected headliners – Knife Party, Diplo, and Zedd often top Hard bills – but there’s also enough of the new and unexpected to get even the most casual of electronic music listeners excited – the Deadmau5 vs. Eric Prydz set chief among them. Via Hard’s official site.

3. While it leaked yesterday, the new Knife Party single is officially out now and can be downloaded for free from their official website. On first listen it feels like a return to form – there’s plenty of shrieking lasers, honed reverb, and spoken references to cutlery. It doesn’t stray far from the Knife Party formula, but it’s epic enough to give me hope for the rest of the album. Via Twitter.

4. Burning Man began this morning after heavy rain delayed the event, forcing organizers to cancel the first two days. Burners seemed to make the best of it, even throwing a makeshift event last night in Reno with a headlining DJ set from Tycho.
